Children...

I don't want them to grow up too quickly and miss what being young and carefree is all about.
I want them to enjoy it all. But being their mom, I want to be part of their enjoyment too...So far so good.

It's Cold Out There, I Mean In Here.

There is nothing better then a crisp Autumnal day in October. Cold and crisp as the sun comes up and then warm by lunch time then cold as dark falls.

We have had 2 frosty mornings this October already. The dogs love it and are even still swimming, I love it, most people I talk to love it.

But my house is cold! I have had to light the wood burner nearly every day for the last two weeks. I have to carry all the wood in as well so at least I get warm while I try to get the house warm. Living in an old brick building has it's draw backs this time of year. Outside can be warmer then inside. The windows have this old glass and every door is drafty. But it's cold because I refuse to turn the heat on until Halloween/ Roosters birthday. I have always done this. On it goes and I watch the oil tank drain as the house fills up with warm air.

These cold mornings are getting the better of me though. I have taken to sleeping in my mid winter gear and it's 11 days until the heat goes on. Cashmere socks, long pj bottoms, long sleeved 't' shirt, and an extra blanket over my three season duvet! Rooster is a different story. His duvet is a thin pathetic thing and he only sleeps in boxers. Maybe the BBC had it right the other morning about women feeling the cold differently then men. And I do wear socks all the time! Maybe this is the secret of 20 years of marriage. Separate duvets and a cold house.

We just had our 20 year anniversary and it was pretty typical. He forgot his card for me at the office and was going to be at a dinner meeting in London until about midnight. I had a swanky cute card for him and will use his credit card latter to buy myself something really nice. Probably a pair of winter boots with fleece lining at this rate. It's 60f in my house and I am typing with wrist warmers on! Must go outside into sunshine now and warm up!!!

  1. I have cashmere bedsocks as well! My husband gave them to me one Christmas as a joke because he teased me about wearing socks to bed in winter. Uhm... I don't want cold feet! Anyway, I love his joke and wear the bedsocks frequently--especially in this weather!

    Happy anniversary!
