Children...

I don't want them to grow up too quickly and miss what being young and carefree is all about.
I want them to enjoy it all. But being their mom, I want to be part of their enjoyment too...So far so good.

Lambs in January

Just at home with the family, having a quiet moment when the TV gets turned on and shrieking comes from the TV room. Come Dine With Me has gone to Made In Chelsea! Binky, Mark, Spencer and Caggie are cooking it up posh style. Great January TV. Teen Chick is beside herself with joy.

So I have been nicely busy since the beginning of November. I worked everyday with my girlfriend at her farm, selling Christmas trees, making and decorating fresh wreaths and garlands and even decorating the odd house for clients. Through it all, we had the Internet business to run and houses and families to run as well. Seven days a week for nearly seven weeks is exhausting but fun. It is Christmas after all and I never tire of Christmas tunes. But by the 22nd of December, I was beat. The friends and family started to arrive and we kept very busy right up until New Years Eve. I love having a house full of friends and or  family, especially during the holidays. All went well.

New Years Eve was celebrated at a friend's house with our chicks and about 80 other parents and children(teens). Safe, fun and close to home. I didn't make any resolutions because I hate to disappoint myself but I know this year will be full of trials. Some for me and some for my chicks.

Today was one of the first trials, literally.  The family spent the day up in Birmingham at Moseley Rugby Club with the teen boy. He was selected to represent the South East  in rugby trials for The Lambs (an English Independent Schools U18 team). He was very nervous over the last few days but he performed brilliantly on the pitch. 80 boys working their stuff off for 26 places. It was a great day out and we were so proud of him. If he doesn't make it any further then todays trials, so be it. It was a great achievement to get this far. He is asleep now and so has missed The Chelsea lot dinning together. Shame.

I love the start of a new year. Full of new things and ideas. Us lucky lambs.

Go, go, go and wear the fluffy blue slippers-

I felt a bit pulled in all directions last weekend and I put about 400 miles on my car driving the chicks all over the county. I cooked all weekend, different meals at different times for whoever was home at what ever time, did numerous loads of different types of loads of laundry due to school, sports and leisure wear. I spent odd hours due to the miles in the car and had to throw in some Christmas shopping time into the mix as well.

I am working everyday right up until Christmas now and have to plan my time on post it's all over the house so I can have some sort of organized kayos. My usual routine before I leave for work starts with waking what ever child is home, packed lunches, feed the dogs and puppy, chickens, me, laundry, house tidy like a whirl wind(only house between kitchen and bedroom gets the whirl wind as it is direct path), dress myself and find shoes of child leaving house for the bus, walk dogs, turn off lights, 19 this morning!, lock dogs out of pantry and laundry room so they don't eat cats or our food, and go to work.

There are a few shouts and shrills in between all that but most mornings it goes pretty smoothly unless there is frost, sick dog, sick child,no power, fussy puppy or the likes. Or like this morning when the oil man parked his huge truck infront of the driveway 6 minutes before the Rooster needed to leave to do the bus run! Poor oil man then had irate mom in her not very nice pajamas and fluffy blue slippers having to move cars around at 7am. All good fun.

Christmas

Yah, Finally got the Christmas buzz. I have hung the wreaths on the doors, picked out about seven different Christmas trees though I know I can only have one and had help from my sweet little chick to decorate the chick tree. It is very girly and slightly pink even though it is taboo to have too much pink apparently if you are a girl. Discrimination against the colour blue or something.  Slight health issue lurking in the hen house at the moment with one of my chicks. Not sure where it is going  but  I'm trying to knock it on the head. She has decided that food isn't necessary. Great. More later on that. 18 days to go to the big day. This is the busy season for me work wise and I am getting plenty of fresh air, rain and shine. I smell like Christmas trees and have sap in my hair but have only burned my finger once with the glue gun making beautiful wreaths worthy on London front doors. Get to pick out a perfect tree for a celeb family today even if they don't do much for me. The chicks think it's cool.
The real chicks are pissing me off though- one egg a day! and that is between the 4 of them.
