Children...

I don't want them to grow up too quickly and miss what being young and carefree is all about.
I want them to enjoy it all. But being their mom, I want to be part of their enjoyment too...So far so good.

Half Term

Thank goodness for half term.
My children wouldn't actually see each other if it wasn't for that scholarly divide.
As it is, this half term they will be bypassing one another and only seeing each other for a few days at the end.
This for once will work out for me as they both have exams when they get back to school.
I am the mother hen of  'one of each'.
One daughter, one son.
One who was born five and a half weeks early, one who just wouldn't come out.
One who has always been bigger than his expectancy even though early.
Nearly 5'10 at 13.
One who finally at age 12 is growing bigger then her other friends.
I'm tiny- 5'2.
He didn't want to talk until he was nearly three.
She picked up a play phone on her first birthday.
He is incredibly gifted in sport and she is extremely fashion conscious.
One with brawn,one with brain.
Thank goodness they both have their looks.
Something has to pay their way if all else fails.
So I have a lovely week ahead.
She's been invited away with another studios friend for a few days and studying will defiantly not be a problem.
He on the other hand will have my undivided attention until her return.
So my week will be full and I will probably even learn something.
Always a nice bonus.
They won't see each other this week as much as I would like but in all
truth, they would spend most of their time bickering about which channel to watch and whose ipod got to be in the kitchen speakers anyway.
Two eggs, one brown speckled , one creamy pink.

Hooray for Mondays

I'm at two minds about Mondays.
Some I love.
You know the ones that open like a Cath Kidston catalogue, sunny and bright.
I'd like to live in a Cath Kidston catalogue.
I don't think my son would  like it but I know my little girl would.
colourful flower, warm pale blue stripes, dining al fresco in perfect weather under the trees with a bright peony patterned table cloth...
Oh sorry, that's me again.
Those are the good Mondays.
Then there is the Monday that opens with potential and crumbles hopelessly into  just another yucky day.
Wearing two sweaters in mid May is just plain sad.
It makes me feel sad and a sad person moves slowly.
I had to repeat yoga moves this morning because they just wouldn't register with my body.
Down Dog then get up.
Hello! Get up.
On Sunday nights, I lay in bed and think of all the great things that I could do starting on the Monday morning.
Tescos and the school run just don't help the mood.
I think I need some inspiration; oh and some more sunshine.
I have to say though, my four little time wasters  at the end of the garden perked me up some.
They don't care if it's Monday or Christmas really - do they?
They also don't care if it's chilly and grey out.
The little hens still lay a lovely egg or two for me.

Earn Your Keep

Our newly acquired hens seem to think they are in my garden to catch the sun and turn my soil. They are four lovely girls who 'buurrrr' when I approach them and peck at my shoes.
Eggs would be nice, more than one at a time I mean.
I believe in earning ones keep.
The hens should lay and though I tell them this daily, they just go about 'buurrrr-ing' at me.
I have similar feelings about my family.
And about myself for that matter.
We should earn our keep.
The children don't 'buurrrr' at me though, they just 'Oh, Mom' me.
The do your homework and get good grades speech comes daily in my house.
Though there is nothing wrong with being a bum for the rest of your life, I would prefer my children to only bum around on the beach on holiday.
The hens better lay soon, they need to set a good example for my children!
