Children...

I don't want them to grow up too quickly and miss what being young and carefree is all about.
I want them to enjoy it all. But being their mom, I want to be part of their enjoyment too...So far so good.

Fun being a family

The Rooster and I had a fantastic weekend with the chicks. They were invited to a 7 a side hockey (field) tournament in Redbridge with some fellow Essex hockey mates to make up a mixed team. Boys and girls.

The sun was baking and at 9am and so were we and we only had to stand and watch. The kids had to play in it. They loved it though. We got the squirt guns out after a picnic lunch to cool down.  It was sunny all day except for about 10 minutes. It almost always rains at Redbridge no matter what the venue. Today was no exception but we were thankful for it by mid afternoon.

My two knew most of the other team players as they played all season with them with Essex. There were 2 sets of brother and sister and then some extras. Our oldest player was the goalie at 19 and youngest was 13. There were 20 teams playing in the tournament and ours was the only one completely made up of children! We also looked normal though they were dressed in pale pink shirts. It was fitting as they were children, even for the boys. They didn't mind the pink because they have to wear purple for Essex hockey anyway. Other teams were the "Bear "Team;Goalie was dressed in a bear suit. Camouflage team, Hawaiian team, purple team, really drunk team, etc.

Our kids were secretly referred to as 'a bunch of kids'. Well, 20 teams and our bunch of kids made it all the way through to the final "Cup" match so placed second on the day! Maybe because they were top goal scorers or maybe because we didn't plow them with beers between games.

There were no major injuries and it was all in fun.

We are already signed up for next year.

Son on exam leave this month for GCSE's. 7 down and 13 to go. We make it a point to tick off each finished exam on the big , long list next to his computer.
Daughter doing end of year exams (even though she will not get out of school until 22 July- save rant for another day) so it is very quiet and tense here for the next few days.

Besides dark chocolate to stimulate brain activity, so they say, what else can I do to stimulate food wise?

I can't wait for July. x
