Children...

I don't want them to grow up too quickly and miss what being young and carefree is all about.
I want them to enjoy it all. But being their mom, I want to be part of their enjoyment too...So far so good.

Here's lookin' at you, Mother Hen-

This is the Stylish Blogger Award that very kind 'Cross the Pond has awarded me. She didn't realise at the time how un-coordinated I am on the lap-top so if you are chosen and can't link in, it's totally my fault as I am useless sometimes.

The rules are:

a) Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.

b) Share 7 things about yourself. Sorry if I scare you-
c) Award 15 recently discovered bloggers. This was fun.
d) Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award. This was harder.

Ok, here we go.....

1- I Love cashmere. More then chocolate, more then sex, more then my puppy. If my house flooded, I would save all my sweaters, scarves and mittens first and let the puppy swim. She is a water dog and maybe secretly that Is why I have this breed- See number 2.

2- I love my dogs more then I love the children's cats. I love my chickens more then I love those cats! The dogs are great and keep me busy in a really lovely way. I let the the puppy sleep on our bed but haven't told the dog trainer that or he might kick me out of class. I would stay at home with the dogs and send the family off on holiday if the family would let me, which they don't. Mean family.

3- I eat White foods. I crave them. But I don't need a lot of them, I just need a bit of it. Rice, pasta, chewy grainy brown breads(though technically not white, I like the butter that goes on it and hate white bread),cheese, which in my mind falls into white foods, Milk by the pint, cereals, oats, usually in the form of porridge or homemade oat cookies with chewy dried cranberries and dates- oh, sorry back to my list. You get the idea. I am not as big as a house but maybe should be.

4- Yoga, I really enjoy yoga. It sorts my mind and body and helps me not be as big as a house. The chick and I go to class every week and have a great time. The teacher is fantastic and funny and if I have had a crap week, I know I will feel better after a laugh and a good balance in her class. The chick loves it too and she is really good and graceful. It's a great mother/daughter thing to do together.

5- My marriage was an arranged marriage. My Italian grandfather married for the third time, an English woman. They lived up the road from me in Connecticut and I saw them quite often. Well when I was in my early 20's, I guess my grandfather thought it was time for me to settle down. He didn't really like the pro-windsurfer I was dating at the time. Under protest, I showed up for dinner one night at their house, barefoot and an hour late, to meet the nephew of the English wife. Well, here I am in England so you can guess the out come :)xoxoxo

6- I sometimes don't answer the phone after having looked at the caller ID. Sometimes I just look at whose is calling and don't feel up to that conversation. And if they leave a message, I erase it without even listening to it because I know what it will be about. The International caller will either be my mother or my sister or a telemarketer who I don't won't to listen to anyway. I like to speak to them on my terms in my time and not listen to their moanings about life in Florida or how little 'x' has a cold again. For god's sake, it's warm all the time and why do you think someone invented tissues! And I love the person who invented caller ID by the way.

7- Ready, I wear real fur. No, you say, not a woman who has chickens living in her children's playhouse!!!   Mink, rabbit and raccoon. They are warm, luxurious, water repellent. I know the mink was reconditioned to the gillette  it is today because the pelts came from Great Aunt Virginia's full length mink coat 20 years ago. I would own more as well but what I have does me just fine on cold days. I'm not a bad person, I'm just not an animal rights activist.

So seven things for you to ponder and here are the lucky 15. Some are new to my blogging list and some are not. I also have no idea why some are purple and some are blue!!

  3. Mother Hen, thanks so much for the lovely award. I'm very pleased to receive it. The only good mink is a dead one in my books! Thanks for the insight into your life. I look forward reading your future adventures x

  4. How funny - I have mink, sheepskin and beaver coats, all of which were given to me. I love them all. The beaver coat is thick and luxurious but too warm to wear most of the time so my children love to snuggle up on top of it to watch movies. It's multi-versatile.
