Children...
I don't want them to grow up too quickly and miss what being young and carefree is all about.
I want them to enjoy it all. But being their mom, I want to be part of their enjoyment too...So far so good.

Hassels of a multi home owner!
I own a home in Cape Cod (in case any one wants a lovely rental near fresh and salt water that sleeps 8) and rent it out in the summer months. We, as a family spend about 2 1/2 weeks there if we are lucky , with family and friends.
Sounds idyllic right? Well on a good day it is. The days when I am here in England and not thinking about the house, are great. Then there are the days when I am forced to not only think about it but do something about it too! Up keep is a bitch on one house let alone another one across the pond.
The phone doesn't work, the gas grill is broken and you need to buy a new one quick, the outside lights are pointing towards Mars and not at the driveway.
I pay a man a lot of money to keep the house ticking over because from 3,500 miles away, it is a bit hard for me to just pop over and move a bloody light let alone buy a gas grill, have it assembled and gas tank filled and the whole lot delivered by tomorrow!
Few, that felt good. You can't tell but I just banged very hard on every key on the key board and now feel better. I can't say the same about the key board.
Thank god for the Internet, which is being a bit temperamental today anyway due to the sun shinning apparently, because I was able to fix the stupid phone line and buy a Weber and align the stars between here and Mars. Well we all know that 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

ME me me. I want. How much? Hopefully more friendly than that miserable sod I called yesterday on the Isle of Wight FFS, who just said pathetic 'can't' when I mentioned 3 children.

Gorgeous house! We live in Boston and constantly hear about everyone going to the Cape for the weekend but haven't made it there yet. It's just too darn expensive and the traffic for the weekend is dreadful etc. etc. Excuses excuses! I can not imagine how frustrating it is to have to maintain a property in another country - especially for all the niggly things like lightbulbs!
ReplyDeleteOh your house looks beautiful. I'm most envious even if the lights are pointing the wrong way ...
ReplyDeleteWe have a cottage on a lake in Pennyslvania that causes me grief as well. We have a caretaker who drives me nutty! We're going in August for three weeks and I can't wait. It's nice to have a place to call home in the states - no matter what trouble it may be.
ReplyDeleteWe've just bought a house in Florida which we are going to rent out - now I'm a little worried.....!! Yours looks fab in Cape Cod - thank goodness for the internet (when it works - mine seemed to crash due to heat stroke the other day too!)
